Irresponsible firearm sellers have long contributed to the gun violence epidemic by neglecting critical background checks and allowing guns to end up in the wrong hands.

Today marks a significant step towards preventing gun violence by holding firearm sellers accountable and…

90% of Americans support universal background checks.

Thanks to the work of House Democrats, we’ve passed commonsense laws to require anyone selling firearms to run a federal background check.

It gets us that much closer to ending the scourge of gun violence in our communities.

Today marks a major step toward universal background checks. A final rule released by ATF HQ brings many firearm sellers under existing federal requirements to perform background checks on buyers, helping keep guns out of dangerous hands.

Gun violence is never acceptable, but to see it victimize people who gathered for a Ramadan event or any religious event is especially heartbreaking. We must all continue working for change, because thoughts & prayers are not enough.

The recent findings from Everytown underscore a dark reality - our country faces a more than urgent need for comprehensive firearm safety measures, especially those that protect our children.

As a member of Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, I'm working to make that a reality.

As Vice Chair of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, I stand behind President Biden and his efforts to address the U.S. gun violence epidemic. President Biden understands that our communities will be safer when we pass common sense gun legislation.

As a member of Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, I’m recognizing 30 years of the Brady Bill. This landmark legislation has saved countless lives and spared many from violence. As we acknowledge this milestone, let's remember there's still work to be done to prevent and end gun violence.

30 years ago today, the Brady Bill was enacted thanks to Jim & Sarah Brady.

Today, we need more bold action to prevent gun violence. Americans should not be shot at schools or Super Bowl parades. Our colleagues in Congress must help stop these tragedies. thetrace.org/2024/02/brady-…

The Brady Bill went into effect 30 yrs ago—creating our only background check system for gun sales. But today, 20% of guns are sold without a background check because current law doesn't require them for private sales at gun shows or online.

We need universal background checks!

30 years ago, the Brady Bill was signed into law, thanks to Jim and Sarah Brady.

Today, we urgently need more bold action to prevent gun violence. Congress must pass legislation like the Assault Weapons Ban to make our communities safer and honor survivors and those we've lost.

30 years ago today, the Brady Bill established America's background check system for guns sold by licensed dealers.

It’s saved countless lives by blocking nearly 5 million prohibited gun transactions. We still have work to do but it’s great to celebrate the progress we’ve made!

The Brady Bill was enacted 30 years ago today - creating our nation’s background check system.

More bold action is needed. Americans should feel safe at school, work, and in their neighborhoods. It's time for universal background checks & a federal assault weapons ban.

The tragic shooting in Parkland, FL took the lives of 17 innocent children. Six years later, we continue to push for universal background checks and an assault weapons ban to save lives. I will continue to work with my Gun Violence Prevention Task Force colleagues to make our communities safer.

As we mark 6 years since the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and 16 years since the mass shooting at Northern Illinois University, our country reels from another mass shooting, this time in Kansas City.

The epidemic of gun violence must end. Inaction kills.

On the six-year anniversary of the mass shooting in Parkland, FL, which claimed the lives of 17 children, we continue to face this uniquely American epidemic.

It’s time for Republicans in Congress to stop answering to the gun lobby and start answering to the American people.

On the 6th anniversary of Parkland, yet another community is going through a uniquely American traumatic event.

One is dead and at least 14 are injured after a mass shooting at the Chiefs Super Bowl Celebration. My prayers are with the friends & loved ones of all those impacted.
