A Russian court has extended the pretrial detention of RFE/RL journalist Alsu Kurmasheva until August 5 and rejected a request for house arrest. At the May 31 hearing, she spoke about receiving inadequate medical care and being denied the chance to speak to her children.

U.S. citizen Ryan Corbett, a husband, father, and humanitarian, has been held without charge by the Taliban in Afghanistan since August 10, 2022. He has been designated by the US Secretary of State as Wrongfully Detained. He must be released.
