When should I appoint a surveyor? This usually occurs after you have viewed the property and made an offer. he survey should be carried out before you exchange contracts as the report could mean that you renegotiate on a matter or even pull out altogether due to hidden defects.

Why have a building survey undertaken? A building survey aims to show you any and all defects that are present so far as it is possible to see them. A survey will literally comment on the building from top to bottom starting from the outside and then moving to the inside.
