As a kid, my family went to the drive in where Vern Gosdin was putting on a show. We backed up to the makeshift stage and sat in law chairs in the bed of the truck. There couldn’t have been 500 people there.
No pyrotechnics or video board. Great music!

Lee Ann Womack can still sing. She’s one of the best voices to emerge from late ‘90s country music. Her song Never Again, Again may have been the best country song released in 1997. Of course, it was way too country to get much airplay at that time.

Don Gibson isn’t mentioned enough when great songwriters are discussed. He wrote some of the best country songs ever recorded.

I can stand up to the test
I can live on so much less
This much I've been learning 🎶

Anybody want to start a thread with country songs that mention a President by name? Me too.

Mr. Lincoln - Hank Jr.
Are The Good Times Really Over - Haggard
Song Of The South - Tom T. Hall
American Blood - Reckless Kelly

John Conlee didn’t write a ton of songs, but he did write Backside Of Thirty and Rose Colored Glasses. Those two songs were enough to classify him as having a pretty good writing career in my opinion.
