The reason the vaccines expired is not because we had too many to use or absorb in the vaccination campaign, but rather they were of short shelf life by the time we received the donation. From a consignment of 102,000 donated vaccines we managed to use all except for 19,610

We are destroying publicly in order to stay accountable to Malawians that the vaccines that expired are not being used during the vaccination campaign and on behalf of the Government I assure all Malawians that no one will be given an expired Covid vaccine.

Good Morning Just arrived at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences in Blantyre where I will be launching the Local Production of Covid 19 supplies project which is under the Japan - Malawi partnership

The local production of Covid 19 supplies is being implemented and championed by our universities, UNIMA, MUBAS, MUST, LUANAR, Mzuni and Kamuzu Universities of Health Sciences with support from govt of Japan and UNDP. #MalawiWeCan

I implore everyone to continue observing all the COVID 19 preventive measures; mask up, washing hands with soap or sanitize, physically distance and avoid overcrowding (isolate when required).

Covid-19 vaccine is available go get your jab.

From 539 samples that were sent to South Africa laboratory,results show that 14 samples have the Delta (Indian) variant. All ofthe 14 are from the Salima Sugar Factory, they were all under institutional quarantine and they have since recovered.

The public needs to be assured that those cases whose samples were collected were appropriately isolated to ensure the minimal spread of the virus to other people.

We have intensified screening in our ports of entry and mandatory quarantine for all those that are coming from the risky countries.

Though the virus is mutating, the basic preventive and containment measures remain the same. We need to work in unity to suppress further the transmission of COVID-19 in our country. Everyone should strictly adhere to all the Covid-19 preventive including getting vaccinated

Let me inform the public that our vaccine stocks are getting lower and some vaccination sites have run out of the vaccines.

My Ministry is currently in the process of re-distributing the vaccine doses from those sites that still have the vaccine doses to those sites that have increased demand. The public will continuously be informed on the vaccine stocks as we progress with the vaccination exercise

Remember we need combined efforts in the COVID-19 fight; vaccination as well as adhering to the preventive measures. The vaccines work with your immune system so your body will be ready to fight the virus if you are exposed
