On this #WorldRefugeeDay , we are reflecting on the democratic values of equality, inclusion, and diversity that guide our work in protecting unaccompanied refugee children.

We are grateful for the people and the global community of support that has opened itself to us, including the The Obama Foundation and Dr. Maya Soetoro-Ng, lifelong educator and President Barack Obama 's sister.

In the past few days, they visited our shelters, learned about our child protection model, and inspired our staff and children with their genuine compassion.
