Think of your most challenging student. Now imagine that you’re their parent. I know it’s hard... but really try to imagine. How much patience would you have? How much potential would you see? At what point would you be willing to give up? Seriously.

Before they buy into your vision, they first have to buy into you. Whether it’s a teacher in a classroom, a coach on a ball field, or a principal in a faculty meeting… good leaders never shortchange the process of establishing credibility and building rapport.

Getting to work on time; getting their grades posted; calling parents; ensuring their students are always supervised; maintaining student confidentiality. It’s not just about the lessons. I appreciate teachers who take care of the other stuff too. They’re professionals.
