He voted against the Affordable Care Act, he voted against the federal expansion of Medicaid, and now he is voting against renewal of the Child Tax credit, which literally would raise 30,000 Kansas children out of poverty. And that still would leave an additional 30K in poverty.

Kansas Senators digging in against expanding any part of the Child Tax Credit in the lame-duck session. The Senate GOP’s resistance all but extinguishes the odds of Democrats clinching a last-minute victory on expanding the program to lift more families out of poverty.

The final House count will be 222 Republicans and 213 Democrats — a mirror image of the Democrats’ current majority. GOP can afford to lose no more than 5 votes on any bill and still have a majority for it to pass.

On August 10th, 2021 both Kansas Senators voted against the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that actually funds rual broadband internet development. The vote was 69-30 in support. Maps are useless without funding to build the network.
