Excited to announce that I've accepted a new position as a climatologist and programmer, starting in August, at the Midwestern Regional Climate Center at Purdue University. This marks a return to applied climate and also the Midwest for me. MRCC Purdue University

I'm now on Mastodon, @[email protected]. Since I've been more of a lurker on Twitter in the recent past, I'm not sure if this is worth my time. But follow me, if you want!

Not sure if the algorithm will favor this tweet, but I will be at #AMS2023 next week. First one for me since '13! If you want to (re-)connect, I'll be at many Applied Climatology sessions, the alumni receptions on Tuesday night, and some other social events as I hear of them.

Note that I will be presenting a poster on Monday night about an exciting, easy-to-use, new Local Freeze Date tool here at the Midwestern Regional Climate Center in collaboration with the USDA Midwest Climate Hub. As I'll have a table, you'll be able to try it out for yourself!

Five years ago today, #HurricaneMichael made landfall near Mexico Beach FL at Category 5 intensity, generating a devastating 15.6-foot storm surge there. It's only 1 of 4 Category 5 hurricane landfalls in the US. This and other radar loops are available at bmcnoldy.earth.miami.edu/tropics/radar/…
