1⃣False information narratives focused the most on attacks on candidates (prevalent earlier on), followed by misrepresenting policies, spreading suspicions about the election's integrity, and instilling fear about the outcome of the election if a specific candidate was elected2/6

2⃣The most common technique employed by the 40 false claims is "misleading," which means distorting statements or providing incomplete information and images. Other techniques used included total fabrication and purposeful modification of photographs 3/6

3⃣Pictures were the most popular format, more than half of the falsehood used photos. In addition, we identified several cases in which information manipulators promoted AI-generated videos or photos. 4/6

Who were the main spreaders of this false info? Most of the 40 claims targeting Harris/Walz can be traced back to English social posts & are popular among Chinese Trump supporters, influencers who often mock US politics/society, & ppl who enjoy the US election campaign dramas 5/6

The analysis is based on three main Taiwanese fact-checkers 台灣事實查核中心 Taiwan FactCheck Center, Asia Fact Check Lab & MyGoPen.
