#OTD in 1902, Stetson University dedicated Flagler Hall, a campus landmark that first housed the school’s engineering program and Florida’s very first law school. Funded by Henry Flagler, the building was originally known as Science Hall before being renamed in his honor in 1913.

The Lawton House, home of the Oviedo Historical Society, was built in the late 1800s by one of Oviedo’s founding families. A classic example of Florida Cracker architecture—wood-frame, wraparound porch, and raised foundation for airflow & flood protection.

#OTD in 1925, the excursion boat Clara B. capsized off Florida’s east coast near Sebastian Inlet, killing 14 of 23 aboard. The vessel, chartered to show real estate prospects around, overturned in rough seas. Later reports called it the Clara A.; the captain was cleared.
