Really loved the Formula 1 experience today, my favourite bits were Senna’s 1988 McLaren and helmet (year of my birth, always loved him and these items, Romain Grosjean MoneyGram Haas F1 Team was really moving, and Colin Chapman’s beautiful Lotus John Player Special - black and gold 👨‍🍳😗👌

Depends if you do it right - Bill Slim (14th Army), David ‘Punch’ Cowan (17th Indian Div) and Claude Pert (255th Indian Tank Brigade) did it perfectly in Feb-March 1945 - and you’ll be able to read all about it in my next book Thunder Run: Meiktila 1945. The greatest combined

The scene where the X-Wings and U-Wings pull up to Scarif and immediately start wiping out the Imperial Walkers are some of my favorite 30 or so seconds of cinema ever

I received this lovely message last night. Even made me feel a tad emotional. I’m really happy to have helped shed some light on the fate of Len’s uncle Trooper Harry Mountney, 3rd Carabiniers, despite the nature of his death in action. (Images shared with permission from Len).

It’s the final part of our BURMA 44 series and we finish with the epic Battle of Kohima - what drama! An amazing battle and one that led to the total, irreversible defeat of the Japanese 15th Army. WW2 Pod: We Have Ways of Making You Talk Al Murray - DKMS.ORG.UK 🇺🇦

This took me a little bit by surprise, I thought it was out later on this month! You can catch me on Battleground giving a broad run-down of Burma in 1944 incl., some looks at the use of armour along the way, with the absolute gentleman Saul David podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/bat…

I was listening on the way home&I have a theory Al Murray - DKMS.ORG.UK 🇺🇦 James Holland about split forces on diff routes-did they treat the move from the DZ/LZ too much like a movement order behind the line(like you see in war diaries a lot)rather than as a conc. force-caused by the
