Work has begun in the Lahaina Natl Historic Landmark Dist to stabilize Baldwin House & Masters Reading Room after the devastating fires last year. Lahaina Restoration Foundation project is shoring up the walls to prevent further damage while recovery efforts & further planning efforts occur.

A blessing for the Hocking Building Affordable Housing Project in Chinatown was held 10/11. This adaptive reuse project using federal historic rehabilitation tax credits will result in 40 rental affordable housing units while preserving the features of the historic building.

Congrats to the 2023 cohort for completing the preservation & maintenance trades training on Kaua‘i this weekend. They repaired 10 double-hung window sashes, fixed battens on the board-and-batten siding & learned key preservation methods. Mahalo to all who made it possible!
