The Council of DC is using the waning days of this legislative session to enact meaningful reform. They began 2018 with public financing and ended with pay-to-play—it’s been a remarkable year!

What appears to have happened in #NC09 to defraud absentee voters is completely illegal under state law. It is appropriate to investigate, prosecute those who committed the fraud and remedy. It is NOT appropriate to punish all absentee voters in the state.

Gov. Snyder has vetoed SB 1176, the bill that would have barred future elected officials from requesting donor information from political nonprofit groups that spend large sums to influence our state's elections.

For all of the bad legislation moving through lame duck sessions, great to see Gov. Snyder vetoed this dark money bill. Voters have a right to know who is trying to influence their vote. This bill would have facilitated more dark money spending.
