April... felt very strange. I seem to have been in a stupor for most of it. But I did manage to see three exhibitions. The Entangled Pasts at the Royal Academy and the Holbein at the Queen's Gallery were especially good.

Well timed, too. Because I always get a sudden spike of anxiety with the arrival of May, and the horror of realising we're almost halfway through the year again.

I think it's okay to protest this, actually.

Does anyone know what kind of bird this is? It's dark brown with a dark beak, except the corners of the mouth, which are bright yellow. Legs dark. My best guess is some kind of blackbird but I'm not sure. Saved from a gang of cats in southern Spain

Every day beggars belief as to which temporal range, dimension, reality, or planet I'm supposed to be inhabiting.

Another of my favourite lazy dishes. Silken tofu with a sauce of miso, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, soy sauce, & toasted sesame oil. Serve scattered with chopped spring onion & coriander, toasted sesame seeds and chilli flakes. Eaten with rice, of course. 1/2
