Camping Tips 4 of 5: Know if you are allowed to have a campfire and if so what type of fire is allowed. Before you camp obtain a CA campfire permit. Collecting vegetation, leaves and wood is not allowed. Buy your wood where you burn it to limit the spread of harmful pests.

Camping Tips 3 of 5: Your campground is your temporary home. Avoid walking through someone else's campsite and detrimental impacts to streams, trees, trails, and more. Keep your tent inside your campsite area to protect wildlife and plants, like this camper did!

Camping Tips 2 of 5: Often times people camp to disconnect from the fast paced and loud urban settings. One way to help maintain the peace is by obeying quiet hours and enjoying music quietly. If you can hear it outside your campsite, it is too loud.

Camping Tips 1 of 5: When camping, it’s your responsibility to understand and obey the park rules. In some parks you're required to sign an acknowledgment of the most important rules. Following the campground rules keeps everyone—and the park—safe.

Today only you can help support our natural lands by sponsoring a tarantula. For only $41/mo you'll receive a certificate with the name of your tarantula, it's last known location, and you'll get quarterly updates on its whereabouts by passenger pigeon. ** While supplies last! **

Today we heard from ResourcesLegacyFund staffer Matt Keller about five National Monument campaigns in California. One of them is in our area--the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument. If successful, this designation would add protections to 109,000 acres to federal lands.
