Check out our latest methods paper. Hillary Layden (with help from Kristy Stengel and Nicky Eleuteri) describes how we use the dTAG system to identify the direct targets of transcription factors, from gRNA design to integration of genomic data sets. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

As a first-gen MD/PhD student, I will never understand why people are so comfortable justifying the chronic financial stress of being a trainee with your projected future earnings as an attending, as if I can simply ask my future self for rent money that I need *today*

*grad students talking about how they knew science/a PhD program was for them when they played in their parents research labs* me, a first gen: this side quest seems fun 🤠

Just found out I qualify as an underrepresented population because I received Pell grants for undergrad and my parents don’t have bachelors degrees. It’s weirdly comforting to know that the NIH recognizes this.

Hot off the (pre-print) presses! Our PAX3-FOXO1 team shows that the fusion transcription factor is required to coordinate enhancer activity at specific targets in aRMS cells and delves into the mechanisms underlying this coordination. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

I have not struggled with a story like I struggled with this one. A thread for anyone interested in the reporting meta: tennesseelookout.com/2022/02/21/sui…

🇺🇦 Two of the most intelligent, talented, kind, and amazing mentors I have at @VUMC_Vaccines are from #Ukraine. I will share some ways that they have shared with our lab for anyone interested to #SupportUkraine in this short 🧵 1/ #DonateUkraine #UkraineUnderAttack #UkraineWar

#AACR2022 PhD candidate Susu Zhang will be presenting her work on identifying the direct targets of PAX3-FOXO1 from 9-12 in poster section 7.

Excited to share our newest story! Our team details how the fusion transcription factor PAX3-FOXO1 regulates RNAPII pause release at a small number of genes via the recruitment of co-regulatory complexes to specific enhancer elements in aRMS cells. shorturl.at/ceFHL

Check out our latest story in Molecular Cell. Our team pairs the dTAG system with deep genomic analysis to determine the spatiotemporal role of SMARCA5 in the maintenance of chromatin structure and function. bit.ly/3GNCalx

Has anyone updated their PRO-seq/GRO-seq adapters/sequencing primers to include dual indices for better results on the NovaSeq? Our current protocol is based on the TRUseq Small RNA kit but our core would like us to include a second index for better multiplexing. #Genomics

I'm excited to announce that I'm defending on February 14th at 1 pm. See what I've uncovered about how mutations in FOXO1 contribute to B-cell lymphomas! Zoom link available; message me.
