The Washington to Washington DC Conference is off to an amazing start! I was honored to speak at the kickoff event about the amazing work happening in our state. Then, I got to hear from panel members from Eastern and Western WA about the economic ties that bring WA together.

I want to thank Tacoma Habitat for giving me a tour around their construction site in Gig Harbor this week. It was amazing to see the use of Insulated Concrete Forms, a building technique using carbon-neutral concrete, being utilized to provide safe and affordable housing.

Last week, I had the honor of speaking at the IAFF 7th District Executive Leadership Graduation. I'm amazed at the dedication of the 14 graduates to advocate for the needs of their fellow firefighters and first responders, and to protect them while they protect the rest of us.

Even after partnering with Washington Trails in 2014 to create a gentler Mailbox trail, we realized we hadn't reached the peak of what we can provide recreation enthusiasts. While the Mailbox Peak elevator may only go down, we cannot wait to see this technology rise to the occasion.
