Why is that on X the folks that are psychiatric drug enthusiasts seem to have such trouble being emotionally regulated in their conversations?

I would have thought that given access to those wonderful ‘mood stablizers’ like Seroquel they would all be pretty chill and happy?

Drs Alexander and Hanson have used many thousands of words debating the utility of healthcare. Both make great points.

Obviously healthcare helps people. Obviously much of healthcare is low value.

Love this advice from RH on finding low-value care

10 years ago today I finished a 5 day detox off of 1.25 mg of Klonopin. Little did I know that:

Akathisia was about to become my best friend
That I would be completely disowned by my entire social support system
That I would suffer the worst torture imaginable for years

This piece is by the crime correspondent because the report covers all deaths in custody - but, unlike deaths in prisons, police custody, & immigration detention, there is no requirement for deaths of patients detained under the Act to be independently investigated

Grim. 🇨🇦 is losing health (+$) to alcohol.
The most effective way to change purchasing of alcohol? Increase price.
But in 2024, increase in alcohol tax was capped at 2% (with inflation, that's a 2.7% *decrease*)
Unsurprisingly, welcomed by BigAlcohol.

Currently the NHS must have recorded only a handful of cases of protracted withdrawal from antidepressants and psych meds which means the full scale of the problem is not visible. Important for correct diagnosis to be made and Yellow Card reporting
