In the meantime, saw this. They have provided a denominator for the pre-movement tests; wish we knew the numerator.

.Dept. of Agriculture reports 3 new #H5N1 #birdflu infected dairy herds, in TEX, MI & ID. This graph is getting messy coz MI announces herds faster than USDA (22 vs 20) & USDA added an alpaca herd in ID to a list that is otherwise all dairy cows.
USDA's total: 67. With the +2 MI herds, 69.

There is no way to know what will cause the next pandemic or when it will be. But that there will be more pandemics is a biological given.
Pretending it won't happen because we're mad we had to go through Covid, or assuming we've got decades till the next one is very unwise.

The state of the #H5N1 #birdflu outbreak in dairy cattle as of Friday, 5/25. Total includes 2 herds Michigan has announced but #USDA hasn't yet confirmed.
65 confirmed herds since late March, reported by 9 states.

CORRECTION: Michigan's total stands at 21, not 22. The cumulative national total of confirmed #H5N1 #birdflu outbreaks in dairy cow herds is 65, not 66.
Apologies. The Michigan Ag dept press release saying they'd confirmed 3 new herds confused me. One was previously reported.

The number of #H5N1 #birdflu infected dairy herds continues to rise. Dept. of Agriculture added 5 today, 3 in SD & 2 in Colorado. Michigan announced +3 which USDA hasn't yet put on its list but I've added here because Michigan's doing a bang-up job finding/reporting herds.
Total = 66.

I don't want to be this busy.

Michigan reports 3 new dairy herds infected with #H5N1 #birdflu . They say #USDA 's lab has confirmed 1 of the 3 so far; confirmatory testing still being done on the other two. This will bring Michigan's total to 22 and the national total to 61.
