People with 2 copies of APOE4 were known to have a high risk of #Alzheimers .
Today that changed to nearly 100% full penetrance

The Heidi Jacobs Lab and collaborators have found evidence that changes in the locus coeruleus precede increases of tau proteins in other brain regions. The study used #OpenScience datasets incl. the Allen Human Brain Atlas. massgeneral.org/news/research-…

Happy to share the latest work from Schneider Christoph and Prokopis Prokopiou on the contribution of #locuscoeruleus - MTL functional connectivity to cortical atrophy and cognitive decline! alz-journals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/al…
In a recent Nature Aging publication, researchers from MGH Martinos Center and colleagues investigated early targeting of the locus coeruleus and how it may delay Alzheimer's progression.

And Eli Bueicheku showed that #locuscoeruleus changes may precede cortical tau, predicting future cognitive decline. She also highlighted some of the genetic features associated with this spatial pattern of tau vulnerability! With Jorge Sepulcre Lab Nature Aging 🎉 nature.com/articles/s4358…
What a great week for our blue spotters team!! Elise Beckers's work on asymmetry in #locuscoeruleus pathology in Alzheimer's Disease was published in Journal of Alzheimer's Disease! 🎉 content.iospress.com/articles/journ…
Excited to share this review on one of my favorite biological problems:
Selective vulnerability in neurodegenerative disease, and how recent technologies are yielding new insights into the underlying mechanisms.
