Painting continues in Middleton Road Depot at the moment with recent work seeing many areas painted including these new steps. But where do they go I hear you ask? Well they go to our new volunteers sign in area which we hope to also use as a workshop viewing area on event days.

Stockport 5 has become the latest tram to enter the works for its floors to be repainted before the season starts again. Seen here half done thanks to the help of a volunteer all the way from America, proving tramway preservation really is a worldwide family.

Our pre season prep continues at a swift pace at the moment. This weekend saw the staircases on Stockport 5 receiving a coat of floor paint with the rest of the tram receiving a thorough scrub & clean wit the truck also being jet washed before sitting to dry in the sunshine.

Its International Women's Day There is definitely no bias amongst our volunteers with the women of the MTMS keeping busy and playing a major role in the operation and upkeep of our tramway. #BreakTheBias

Hull 96 has become the first of our trams to begin commissioning this weekend. Seen here about to enter the workshops & move over the pit to allow the tram to receive a thorough inspection & adjustments required which is absolutely critical to the safe operation of our tramway.

The next tram to receive a commissioning service ahead of operations resuming on the 3rd April is Blackpool 623 seen here over our maintenance pit. Regular followers will be aware that 623 has also been receiving attention to its paintwork and a thorough internal clean.

In order to starting getting our museum tidied and cleaned to allow it to open for the first time in 2 years a good bit of moving around is underway. This includes the two Wooton trams which with have now been transported along the line and moved up to Lakeside depot.

Of course it wouldn't seem quite right to not have Manchester 765 available for our event on the 3rd April. Therefore commissioning service are coming thick and fast now with the commissioning of 765 underway.

Stockport 5 is the latest of our trams to be commissioned for our Birthday event on the 3rd April. Here it is out on test in appropriate open top weather this weekend.

Last week saw corporate volunteers from Nat West come to visit us. They were put to work trimming back bushes and trees ready to ensure clearances along our line stay at the distances they are required to be. We are massively grateful for their assistance.

With the weather having been so nice this weekend we couldn't resist a shot of Stockport and Manchester 765 basking in the sunshine. Hopefully the weather is as nice on the 3rd April for our first day of the operating season.

Repairs to 623's damaged paint continue with our coach painter mixing shades in order to blend this in as closely as possible to the existing paint

Well we're back! Our Trams are operating again and the museum and shop are open every Sunday until October and Saturdays from Easter until the end of October. If you visited for our birthday event this weekend please do share your pictures with us we would love to see them.

One of our main projects whilst we have been closed is the tidying and reorganising of our workshop. So here it is alongside a picture of how it looked in 2018. Hopefully you notice the difference ;-)

Sometimes its the little details that make a difference. Between projects one of our painting team has repainted one of the Manchester Coat of arms that adorn the traction poles around our Middleton Road depot.
