As always watch app developers need to wait for hardware releases to guide the development path. Now that’s known, there’ll be some nice HeartWatch updates coming soon HeartWatch 4 works just fine on WatchOS7 though. Especially lovely on this new stripes face ❤️

So here’s an interesting tidbit that no-one picked up in their WatchOS 7 reviews. WatchOS 7 will now start streaming heart rate readings when you exceed a certain walking speed. Previously it would generally turn off the sensor until you started a workout.

Nice to see we _finally_ have access to ECG Apple Watch features in Australia (not Apple’s fault, we have some bureaucratic issues in this country). Now to work on stuff that helps people get the most out of it!

Sleep SpO2, daily SpO2, body fat percentage, lean mass, fat mass, waist size added. Tons more to add including blood glucose and much more. Big release coming in a couple of months.

This is a nice example of two quantities (sleeping heart rate and the body fat percentage) that are well correlated but not causally linked. (data from my personal record for the past year, with HeartWatch)

Lots of new complications coming in the next update including options for when you want a more dressy look.

UK customers. Even though I was born in the UK and grew up with stones and pounds I had no idea this was still the main way to record weight. Sorry! Also, unlike Apple Health it is implemented correctly in the next update.
