Tomorrow (January 12)’s forecast calls for >90% cloud cover all evening and slight chance of snow so that means we will not hold open house this month. Please join us for the lunar eclipse party (which will happen clouds or clear) on January 20 or at the February 9 open house.

Sadly, tonight (February 1)'s forecast calls for >50% sky cover so the observatory will not hold telescope tour this month. Please join us for the February 9 and March 2 open houses, the February 18 binoculars class, or the March 8 telescope tour.

Open house at the observatory is on for tomorrow (2/9). The forecast calls for wind chills around 10 F so layer carefully. The space station will pass over around 5:45pm.

The cloud cover forecast for tomorrow evening is greater than 70% during the entire planned open house so the March 2 open house is cancelled. Please try one of our classes or sign up for the equinox full moon event later this month.

Observatory open house will go forward tonight (4/6), despite the partly cloudy forecast, starting at 8pm.

For naked-eye astronomy class tomorrow (May 13), the forecast looks good for sky viewing so we will plan to meet outside the observatory dome (look for the red lights after you park). It will be cool so bundle up to stay comfortable outside for an hour!

The forecasts for tomorrow night (6/1) predict mostly cloudy skies from sunset to midnight so observatory open house will be canceled. Please join us for our next open house on July 27.

The forecasts for tomorrow night (7/27) are mixed between little clouds and chance of rain so observatory open house will go forward with optimism. Please join us, if it is not raining, anytime from 8:30pm and 12:30am.

All forecasts indicate tomorrow (8/31) evening will be rainy and over 70% cloudy so we will not hold the open house tomorrow. Be sure to check out our September events at hawthornhollow.org/observatory/
