Our next volunteer spotlight features Aaron Williams, who serves his Maui community through the American Red Cross in the role of Shelter Resident Transition site manager. It has taught him a lot about empathy and the importance of supporting people through difficult times.

On April 5th, the American Red Cross had the privilege to be a part of the Army Community Service's Child Safety Fair. Hands-Only CPR training was provided to participants, as well as information about Service to the Armed Forces, International Services and Disaster Services.

We continue our volunteer spotlight by recognizing the superstar Alarcon family! They're passionate about community service and visited Castle High School recently to teach home fire safety and preparedness. Mahalo!

A Flood Advisory is now in effect until 5pm HST for Kauaʻi.

The Advisory replaces the Warning issued earlier.

A Flash Flood WARNING is now in effect for Kauaʻi until 2:00 pm HST today.

This replaces the Flood Advisory issued earlier.

As of noon today, shelters have been closed and the Flash Flood Warning has been cancelled for Kauai. We'll keep you posted on any further developments.

The Flash Flood Warning for Kauaʻi has been CANCELED. However, the Kauaʻi Emergency Management Agency reports that several roads remain closed, mainly across east and southeast portions of the island.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the island of Kauai lasting through Friday afternoon. Be sure you stay informed and prepare your home if you live in a flood-prone area.

For our Volunteer Spotlight today, we want to recognize and thank Erl Papa, who has deployed to Maui four times as a Disaster Mental Health volunteer. Her fluency in Tagalog was essential for providing people an opportunity to talk story in their primary language.

NO TSUNAMI THREAT: A 7.5-magnitude earthquake occurred at 1:58 pm HST today (4/2) near Taiwan. Based on all available data, there is NO tsunami threat to Hawaiʻi.
