I don't expect Noni Madueke to be crying after a game, but I didn't like that clip of him laughing. He will forget about the loss quickly, our fans won't.
This is what it means to play for Chelsea from some of our past and present players, and I love them for it. Emotion ๐ต๐
Game changed when Malo Gusto went off. Cole Palmer is exceptional, but I think Gusto this season is just as important to Chelsea as him, especially without Reece James available.
Probably my favourite player right now. The perfect long-term Azpilicueta replacement.
Everyone will be looking to Cole Palmer tonight if Chelsea are going through. However, our defence is going to be key if we are to make the FA Cup final.
I'd go for Silva and Chalobah tonight. We need that experience, and I've also been impressed with Trevoh since he returned.
I'm shameless enough to admit that I'd be happy if Chelsea qualified for the Europa Conference League next season.
A first chance for some of our players to compete in Europe. A great opportunity to win games, build confidence and (hopefully) win a trophy at the end. ๐๐ต
There's this obsession that most clubs have about qualifying for the UCL, but there's no point being in it if you're just there to make up the numbers.
Even in bad periods, no one wants to draw Chelsea in Europe. When we eventually get back in it, we'll be tough for any side.
As we've seen tonight, winning the Champions League is a very difficult task. That's what makes Chelsea Football Club special - we always find a way to win, especially when our backs are against the wall.
Underdogs in both 2012 + 2021, but we delivered. Football heritage ๐๐ต
I'm only speculating, but I wonder if a lot of the penalty taker issues we've had this season are due to players having goal bonuses in their contracts.
Never been a fan of goal bonuses. As Roy Keane would say 'that's your job' to score goals.
Must admit, I really enjoyed Dele Alli on MNF last night. Obviously being a Chelsea fan, I've not warmed to him before, but I thought he made some great points.
Had a rotten few years, but I hope he can have a successful final chapter in his playing career.
In the two seasons where Diego Costa scored 20 goals, Chelsea became PL champions. No one has scored more than 20 PL goals for Chelsea since Drogba's 29 in 09/10 - we also won the title that year.
20 PL goals for Palmer with 7 games still to play. We have a generational talent.
Chelsea only scored 38 Premier League goals last season. We now have scored 61 goals this season with 7 games to go.
With a couple of key signings, players returning from injury and some tactical tweaks in defence, there is genuine reason to be optimistic. We will get there ๐ช๐ต
