The argument between full season points vs playoffs is basically "All 36 races should factor equally into judging a team's performance and deciding the year's best team" vs "Somebody might be too deserving of a championship and that would be boring for the rest of us."

What made these cars so great, aside from the on-track racing product, was that the hoods sloped downward and provided such great branding for sponsors. These flat hoods with louvers are next to invisible from this angle.
