I’m privileged to visit Biosphere 2 just north of Tucson thanks to Burroughs Wellcome Fund. It’s really hard to describe what a special place this is. My pictures will not do it justice but I encourage folks to check out the website when they have some time: biosphere2.org

The bipartite centromere, what a journey! A cool discovery & a fun collaboration with Bill Earnshaw's lab & Tatsuo Fukagawa, led by Carlos & Kumiko! We found that centromeres organize into multiple domains, which independently attach microtubules.
