As stated by Soto et al. (2024), an important point to ponder in terms of'reintroduction' and how it can backfire in the shadow of ignorance when historical records and current ecosystem attributes don't match? Recent example: Cheetah in India... #invasion #biodiversity

📢Publication alert.. Urbanisation is influencing the number of afforestation schemes in India. Only few tree species including non-natives dominate Indian urban areas. Diverse set of factors are required instead of focusing only on increasing green cover. link.springer.com/article/10.100…

A new publication on bird diversity of an under-constructed Nalanda University campus', where we recorded 91 bird species. Takehome: Habitat heterogeneity promotes diversity, not size. Total 455 acres of NU campus (100a r water bodies, 300a r green landscapes & only 55a r buildings)

Publication Alert📢 New paper on the influence of urbanisation on feces deposition on paved roads. It is positively linked to the urbanisation rate, with a potential loss of seeds present in feces deposited by animals on paved roads. #seeddispersal #urban link.springer.com/article/10.100…

When field work makes you a disperser for opportunistic plants. Though I wonder about humans responses to different structures of epizoochorous seeds attached to their clothes. Is their any bias depending on the surface structure of seeds while removing them from clothes?

"Taxonomy is the science of identification. Perhaps the oldest of all sciences, as it was born with humankind, but certainly the most necessary. However, paradoxically, it is the least valued of all sciences. It is even said that it is somewhat out of fashion" 1/

Publication📢Global review on urban endozoochory reveals: 🌆 Urbanisation alters plant-animal interactions 🦇 Bats are key dispersers in cities 🌱 Larger, fleshy fruits are favored 🔍 Major gaps remain in urban endozoochory link.springer.com/article/10.100… #UrbanEcology #SeedDispersal

Are city trees always helping biodiversity? Our new research highlights that trees close to paved roads cause animals to deposit seeds on unsuitable surfaces, undermining urban forest regeneration. Full paper: doi.org/10.1111/1440-1… #GreenInfrastructure #UrbanPlanning #Ecology

Urban adaptors are the heroes for seed dispersal. The latest research talked about urbanization contributing to the seed dispersal of native plants by raccoon dogs. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ec… #urbanecology #seeddispersal #wildlife
