Launch of The Rule of Law's Anatomy in the EU and the keynote by Paul Nemitz of European Commission on the multiplicity of RoL issues Europe is facing Helsinki Rule of Law Forum Rule of Law Centre
From “The Rule of Law’s Anatomy in the EU” book launch this morning. Keynote by Paul Nemitz at Rule of Law Centre 📚🇪🇺
Yesterday we held Book Launch #2 of “The Rule of Law’s Anatomy in the EU: Foundations and Protections” (Hart Publishing, A Rosas, Juha Raitio and myself eds), at the Library of European Commission Based on exchanges, here’s what’s new on #ruleoflaw in 🇪🇺 🧵 1/x
I wrote down some thoughts on the legal issues regarding the instrumentalization of #migrants on #Finland’s eastern #border for Verfassungsblog Ajatuksia #itäraja n maahantulotilanteen oikeudellisista haasteista ⚖️ 🇫🇮🇪🇺🇷🇺
"#Oikeusvaltio llisuus ei ole pelkkiä lainkohtia, siihen sisältyy myös valtiosääntörakenteita, menettelytapoja, oikeuskulttuuria. Oikeusvaltion turvaamiseksi tarvitaan jatkuvasti reaktiivisten suojakeinojen lisäksi proaktiivisia suojakeinoja." Pekka Pohjankoski puheenvuorossaan.
Sillä aikaa kun Suomessa #käännytyslaki puhuttaa, #EU-tuomioistuin (EU Court of Justice) tuomitsi eilen #Unkari:n #pushback -lainsäädäntönsä johdosta €200 miljoonan [sic!] sakkoihin. Lisäksi €1 milj. uhkasakko per päivä, kunnes 🇭🇺 taas noudattaa EU-oikeutta. Megamerkittävä ratkaisu!
Why care about offsetting? In my Op-Ed “Safeguarding #EULaw’s Authority” for EU Law Live concerning a recent EU Court of Justice judgment (T-200/22 & T-314/22), I discuss this and other questions re #EU’s capacity to recover financial penalties from Member States. ⬇️🇪🇺⚖️💶
I wrote an Op-Ed for EU Law Live on the ‘Medel’ judgment and who has locus standi to plead in the ‘general good’ before EU Court of Justice 🇪🇺⚖️ A brief 🧵 1/x
