My 8th grade AVID ambassadors have been helping in 6th grade classrooms all week by facilitating collaborative study groups. I have also really loved seeing them motivate and help the 6th grade AVID students with the 5 phases of note-taking and tutorials. GCISD AVID AVID

AVID hosted the veteran’s day reception & spoke with the veterans & gave an introduction speech. 6th & 8th grade had amazing socratic seminars. I love hearing them speak passionately & productively while using text evidence to support their claims. GCISD AVID AVID

My 6th graders wanted to make Universi-trees. My students cut out the trees, made their own ornaments. I just gave them a template & printed some words. I am in a constant state of awe with these kids, their ideas, and their follow-through. Sheila Shimmick GCISD AVID AVID

Ss Heritage Broncos created an Andrew Jackson Oval Office. They designed items by connecting what they learned about him and his presidency. Ex: the Nullification Crisis, spoils system, suffrage, Indian Removal Act, & The Trail of Tears. GCISD Social Studies
