To further commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe day we look at citizens and soldiers alike celebrating VE day here in Halifax. This photo was captured at the Halifax commons shortly after the end of the Second World War was announced.

This breathtaking painting, created by Tom Forrestall in 2004, can be found in Juno Tower. On August 6th, 1942, HMCS ASSINIBOINE spotted the German submarine on the surface and pursued it for seven hours, before competing in a fierce battle. What an amazing piece.

It was an incredible few days at Fleet Week. We were honoured to host the Honours & Awards ceremony down at Sackville Landing in front of HMCS Sackville. What a moment to celebrate the ship, our community and naval pride!
