In 1986, I opened a concert with the beat of a drum Barbican Centre. My father is playing the piano and directing the youth orchestra my parents created. This Thursday, I’ll be performing Tavener’s Protecting Veil with Britten Sinfonia here nearly 40 years later!

I think this may be the highest podium I’ve ever played on, or any cellist for that matter! Looking forward to the next stop in Dublin on this transcendent tour with Tavener and Britten Sinfonia Norwich Cathedral Saffron Hall Barbican Centre National Concert Hall The Bridgewater Hall

'Often these desperate times stimulate deep creative yearnings and produce some of the most profoundly moving works' Guy Johnston shares his experience recording Night Seasons by Rebecca Dale, described as a concerto for cello and choir in conversation: trib.al/Agu6wtn

Rebecca Dale’s new album, Night Seasons, is out in digital format #today #InternationalWomensDay! You can read my article about the title work at The Strad. It’s also exciting to appear on the same disc as my cello hero! lnk.to/NightSeasons Signum Classics Philharmonia Orchestra

It’s going to be hard to say goodbye Eastman School. Here are a few moments with students after recent final recitals, and today was the last day of juries. My work is almost done here. Thank you to all my students for your curiosity, inspiration and friendship. I will miss you!

Tonight, I’m performing all the Bach Suites Oxford Festival of the Arts. It has been a dream of mine to perform the cycle for as long as I can remember, and it’s particularly special that my parents can be here too. Ikon Arts Management J & A Beare Larsen Strings ESTA UK HHMusicFest

Preparing for the last time with Sean Rafferty on In Tune BBC Radio 3 tonight. Looking forward to playing with Elena Urioste and Tom Poster. Tom and I have been guests for 25 years, that’s a quarter of a century and over half our lifetime. We will miss you, Sean!

We had a magical evening with Sean for his last In Tune BBC Radio 3. It’s the end of an era.

Last 2 concerts coming up with Tom Poster! We’ve had a blast getting to know Saint-Saens and Martinu Sonatas. Looking forward to Oriental Club tonight and King's Lynn Festival tomorrow. Bach, Saint-Saens, Martinu and Beethoven. (Thanks for the picture Beaminster Festival)
