The trailer for Jiří Mádl's new film Vlny/Waves, which centres on events at Czechoslovak Radio during the 1968 Russian invasion, just dropped – and looks really promising. I'm very much looking forward to seeing this in a few weeks at Karlovy Vary IFF!

As if it wasn’t clear already VW illustrates the giant, ticking time-bomb at the heart of Europe’s economic model. The European economy is based on two things, industrial production and selling the past.

If your current ID carries your married name--different from your maiden name on your birth certificate--you could be disqualified from voting under the SAVE act pushed by GOP and Trump. Could block millions of women from voting

Imagine being Sundar Pichai now: - you had the largest continually updated data set of any company to train AI on (the Google Index) - you invented the underlying technology of LLMs like ChatGPT in 2017 called Transfomers - you had complete search dominance: all you had to add

Just to clarify: this isn’t just the first time since WW2 that all incumbent parties in developed countries lost vote share. It’s the first time since this data was first recorded in 1905. Essentially the first time in the history of democracy (universal suffrage began in 1894).

Apparently some Dems are concluding from this that they were powerless to avoid a heavy defeat, so I will take this opportunity to plug my column from last month warning that progressives’ leftward shift on social issues was alienating Hispanic voters ft.com/content/84b816…
