This 1899 photo features the Billiard Room in the basement of the Tampa Bay Hotel. The squares in the ceiling were skylights that provided natural light to enhance the modern, but dim electric lights. Today, students at the University of Tampa know this as the Rathskeller. #tbt

There were lots of automobiles at the Tampa Bay Hotel over the years, including the one in this #tbt photo from 1903. These four men are sitting in a $650 Oldsmobile Model R, also known as the Curved Dash Oldsmobile, which is credited as being the first mass-produced automobile.
