🏴 Today's BFI NETWORK Wales #NETWORKandChill recommendation 🎦 is William McGregor's gothic folk tale Gwen Film Official, which sees a young girl desperately trying to hold her home together in 19th century Snowdonia 🏔️ 👀 Watch it here: player.bfi.org.uk/rentals/film/w…
Slightly in love with these Gwen Film Official embroideries which have just arrived from Sweden. Going straight up on the wall. 🖤
Details for the upcoming Japanese premiere of Gwen + video Q&A with director William McGregor, rather fittingly on Halloween.
Kicking of Halloween with a special screening of Gwen Film Official in Japan. Where I got to talk about my love of 60's Japanese Folk Horror classics Onibaba & Kuroneko. Plus terrorise the socially distanced audience with my GIANT ZOOM FACE! Origato 京都ヒストリカ国際映画祭/KHIFF
Gwen Director William McGregor met katie hayward at a Gwen BAFTA Cymru Q&A at Sinema Pontio and after hearing her story about losing her home to a nuclear power plant, decided to make a film with Katie and her bees. Which has just won at Norwich Film Festival! 🐝
A folk horror from a first-timer has Mark Kermode's vote, as he introduces Gwen, only on #BFIPlayer
Thank you Mr Kermode! 'An impressively strange and atmospheric chiller' Gwen Film Official is Mark Kermode's film of the week over on BFIPlayer! Happy Halloween ;)
If you're looking for an atmospheric folk horror I definitely recommend Gwen from William McGregor It's sublimely gothic. And no one can do pain and dread quite like Maxine Peake.
.William McGregor’s impressive debut GWEN perfectly encapsulates this season. It’s a film that’s absolutely terrifying & unsettling. The horror & dread is deeply rooted in the humane, it completely grips you & never lets go. Superb performances, masterfully directed. A must see!
Certainly makes your day to get a very generous namecheck by the legendary Mr Mark Mark Kermode alongside William McGregor and so many talented humans - particularly on a project that meant the absolute world to all of us.

Our UK premier of Gwen Film Official at Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2019 was an event I will never forget. I truly hope future debut filmmakers get that experience and support. And don’t even get me started on how much of a loss not having the festivals Cèilidh would be! change.org/p/save-edinbur…
