Clever study by Suzanne Devkota and colleagues examines stress response to dietary protein restriction and the gut microbiota. Among other insights, dietary fiber x gut microbiota interactions can modulate the effects of a diet low in protein (1/2) doi.org/10.1038/s41467…

Grateful for incredible trainees who led this work(Hannah Wastyk, Gabi Fragiadakis), collaborator Christopher Gardner, participants, and !DONORS! whose generosity made our Fermented/Fiber/Food (FeFiFo) study possible. Enjoy good food and good health. authors.elsevier.com/a/1dOdeL7PXe%7…

Nice write-up of our high fiber, high fermented food study Stanford Medicine med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/…

This was a fun conversation-- such an honor to be with my Stanford colleague and exceptional science communicator Andrew D. Huberman, Ph.D. to discuss gut microbes and health.

Has the industrial lifestyle impacted infant gut microbiome assembly? Profoundly. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… Inspired by leads Matt Olm and Dylan Dahan and an A+ team, and grateful for those who funded this work , NIH Common Fund, NIH NCCIH, Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Network, @gates_foundation

Today we report a new model system for the gut microbiome: hCom2, a defined community of 119 strains. Alice Cheng led the charge, with major contributions from Po-Yi Ho, Andrés Aranda-Díaz, and Moved to @sunitjain.bsky.social. Co-led by my longtime collaborator KC Huang. 1/22 cell.com/cell/fulltext/…
