SDSU organic Labsgiving 2023 was a huge success! Gavin Rustin was a great organizer, and the Byron Purse and group made it even more awesome (Byron went to Julian for a Pie).

Great new program at SDSU. Latest group picture in matching SDSU Sciences PPE fresh from the vending machine

In some exciting, but also bittersweet news, the group will be relocating to the Stony Brook University Chemistry department over the summer. I am looking forward to the future, but will miss all of the amazing colleagues and friends at SDSU Chem-Biochem

Jim, a member of the Gustafson Group @ Stony Brook, cultivated a positive & inclusive environment in the organic chem labs. He would lead short meditation sections to get students in a good state of mind each lab period & was a sounding board for students to discuss their experiences at SDSU.

We are very happy to announce the promotion of three colleagues this year! Dr. Komperda Regis Komperda is now an Associate Prof with tenure, and Drs. Swairjo and Yan have been promoted to (full) Professor! Congratulations to all of you them on their exemplary work!

Check out our latest work in Nature Comm! Distinct structural features in IDH1 mutants drive their unique catalytic profiles and lead to differences in an allosteric pocket that may impact inhibitor resistance. A great collaboration with Huxford and Cooksy labs here at San Diego State University!

Excited to share our new ChemRxiv preprint that describes CySP3-96 plate-based cysteine chemoproteomic method. Congrats to Flowreen Shikwana and team and thanks to Gustafson Group @ Stony Brook for the atropisomers! and #SergiLabSupplies Sergii Pochekailov for the low cost resin! chemrxiv.org/engage/chemrxi…
