Center Grove 2nd graders collected 15,000 pieces of candy for first responders. Today, the students demonstrated their knowledge of place value to help count the candy. This activity taught the importance of giving back, as well as how place value is used in the real world.

What a day! Had an awesome Pajama Party celebrating our published Narratives! We then topped it off creating our own balloons after reading “Balloons Over Broadway”! So grateful for such hard working, creative second graders 🧡🍁🦃🎈📝

What do you do when your class LOVES read alouds? Count down to winter break with new holiday book of course! 🙂 Also, counting the days with ways to kindness too❤️

Started a new tradition this year! Loved this take home project ❤️ So impressed with their creativity shown on their houses, but more importantly we were all able to share our family’s holiday traditions!

Jan 2012-Jan 2022: Celebrating 10 years of teaching at Center Grove. I’ve been wanting to put together for awhile now and so happy I finally did! So grateful for every student, staff member, and family to have crossed paths with these past 10 years❤️

You “Doughnut” know how proud I am of these nonfiction writers! Second writing celebration in the books and we are excited to start opinion/persuasive writing next! 🍩 We loved giving each other doughnut awards (and eating some real ones too 😉).

Our Tournament of Books has ended with B.J. Novak “A Book with No Pictures” beating out 32 other great read alouds! The love of reading in this class makes my ❤️ so happy 😀 “Ms. Grott can we have an April Madness?!”

Busy last week! I will cherish the memories made with this amazing group of kids! And wish all the best to the 5th graders moving on to RMS, especially these two❤️ This summer will sure be “sweet” with all the REESE'S EOY gifts 🤦‍♀️ and lots of fun planning 🙃
