Congratulations to James Shields (Yr 13) who represented Ulster Hockey u19s over the Easter break in a series against Wales. It was a series win with a 7-1 victory and two 1-1 draws. James rounded off a good team move with a goal in the first game. Well done, James! 👏 🏑

Congratulations to Ollie Peoples who was selected as a Queen’s University Belfast ‘Future Star’ for Boys’ Football. The annual Future Stars Awards is an opportunity for QUB to recognise the most talented Yr 11/12 student athletes across each of the university’s priority sports.

Our Honours Assembly this morning recognised the achievements of pupils in drama, music, rugby and girls hockey. Well done to all the recipients! 🦌

Congratulations to Stanley Rintoul, Jack Bailie, Euan Hanna, Karsten Close, Matthew Bailie and Joseph Rainey who won the U19 boys All Ireland Table Tennis Championships in Dublin yesterday! They faced very stiff competition from Blackrock College, Dublin but secured the win 5-3.

Class of 2025 🦌 We wished the Class of 2025 every success today as they departed on study leave. We celebrated their years in GGS…we had dancing, old school games, a water fight, speeches and a video of photos through the years! Lots of fun and a few tears! 🦌

Well done to Charlie Clegg, Y10, who recently received a Silver Award in the prestigious UKMT ‘Grey Kangaroo’ competition. Charlie qualified for this invitation-only challenge by merit of his fantastic performance in the Intermediate Maths Challenge, held earlier in the year.

Congrats to Reuben Walls, 8V, who excelled whilst representing N.I. in the Senior Home Nations Powerchair Football Tournament, held last weekend in Scotland. Reuben played superbly, scoring 4 goals and being named Player of the Tournament as N.I. finished in 3rd place overall.

Thank you to the 10 external professionals who took time to visit the School this morning, delivering a variety of engaging talks as part of the Y10 Careers Carousel. Pupils were given the opportunity to attend 2 talks of their choice, with feedback proving extremely positive.
