“Sometimes I think of Abraham, how one star he saw had been lit for me. He was a stranger in this land and I am that, no less than he”

“They say that one day Joshua Made the sun stand still in the sky But I can't even keep these thoughts of you from passing by Oh, we are not as strong as we think we are”

You have to give up to go up. You don’t go to the next level by just stepping up, you go to the next level by giving something up to go there. The higher you go, the higher the price!

Nothing more important for a Christian to do than to read right through the whole Bible over and over and over, at the very least once a year. You have to keep checking and refining your beliefs by immersion in the Scripture.

1st reason to read thro the whole Bible regularly: We cherry pick our favorite ideas from the Bible to create a theology of our making, not God's. Reading the entirety regularly confronts us with teaching we don't like and keeps us listening to God rather than just our own hearts

2nd reason to read thro the whole Bible regularly: I've found it gives the Spirit more abundant and diverse material to work with in touching our hearts. Of the four chapters I read every day, there's always one at least that really 'lights up' and draws me in.

3rd reason to read thro the whole Bible regularly: The monastics have always done it, and T.Cranmer incorporated it into the BCP in the 1500s for the entire English population. This shows how important our forebears believed it to be for spiritual formation.
