Did you know that interacting with horses significantly reduces the production of the stress hormone, cortisol?
When cortisol is reduced, stress and pain levels are also reduced, with the knock on effect of improving a person's sleep pattern, energy levels and overall mood.

H is a new learner at Greatwood who is already feeling the benefits of being around the horses. After grooming The Cashel Man, he told us 'I will remember this day for the rest of my life.'

You know that spring is just around the corner when we turn our wonderful former racehorses out after a long winter tucked up in their stables. This group is made up of 16 Thoroughbreds aged 5 to 24, who will now spend the next 7 months living as a herd.

One of our wonderful learners completed Developing Confidence and is now on the interpersonal Skills programme. She loves spending time with the horses, observing and photographing them.
