When combat starts at your table, how do you usually handle it? Do people just call out the mechanics like ‘I attack, I hit, I miss, damage is 7’ and keep moving quickly, or do you spend time narrating what those results look like, describing the near misses and telling blows

D&D campaigns rarely reach high level. That is not just a design issue. It is good for business. New beginnings sell better than satisfying endings. What is your longest campaign and highest level character?

Structure is not bad, but when mechanics take center stage, creativity can sometimes get left behind. Play feels richest when the focus is on imagination at the table. Lighter games are a great way to practice that. They invite more rulings over rules, and in the process, help

I was burned out. I felt like a candle in the wind, barely keeping the GM spark going. My shelves were full of lighter RPGs I kept buying but never touched. Then I finally ran one. It was like flipping a switch. Suddenly, I was improvising more again, making calls in the moment,

The end of this video really captures what it feels like to DM. The little details you add are there for the players to notice, and when they do it deepens immersion and feels like a win. If they do not notice, that is fine too, because the world itself is the DM’s character,

If I were CR, I would not use it either, especially since the new show will not have Mercer as GM. That way, if the series does not connect with the audience, the criticism will not reflect back on Daggerheart.

This picture got me thinking. What if there was a Curator Cube? It doesn’t dissolve what it kills. It preserves them. Every victim floats inside, perfectly pickled. A drifting trophy case of its victims.

Sometimes, you just want to kick the door down, slay some goblins, and loot the room. Not every session needs to be some long role-playing arc. In fact, most of you dont have time for that anyway. YMMV.

Imagine thinking you’ve unlocked some higher consciousness because you ‘get’ that sand falling is art, while the rest of us are just watching dirt obey physics.
