Bike lanes are a solution for avoiding congestion, not the cause of it. If you truly believe in reducing congestion, find ways to reduce the obscene amount of single occupant vehicles clogging up the city. Taking away alternatives isn't going to make a difference Prabmeet Sarkaria

Twelve bike commuters along Bloor this evening taking up the same amount of road space as two cars. Bikes use finite road space more efficiently than cars. Cars cause congestion because they’re inherently inefficient.

lol resident association head currently opposing a multiplex because it is "like a tenement building out of Glasgow". The contempt for multiplex rental housing in neighbourhoods has not gone away. "Horrifying" that the proposed building largely complies with zoning.

If housing is in the mix, I'm curious whether they recognize the huge environmental damage wreaked by the apartment bans that big cities like Vancouver continue to impose on most of their land. Apartments have lower GHGs, less energy use & consume far less land space than houses

If I were the city of Toronto I’d simply refuse to comply with this. Let the crews at MTO rip them up. When the first cyclist dies (and they will) point the finger squarely at the province.

We need your help 📢 Write in a letter of support for 710 Landsdowne Ave. A 4-storey multiplex is being proposed, and there is steep neighborhood opposition with signs like these, even though it's about 600m from a subway station!

Why isn't #onpoli's housing supply keeping up with housing need? New expert report commissioned by my @EnviroDefence team: Ontario governments' restrictions on mid-rise apartment buildings have been making it impossible to end the housing shortage.🧵👇 environmentaldefence.ca/2024/11/13/new…

Toronto development charges on 2+ bedroom apartment units, 2009-2024, and what the money is funding (except for the first few years where I didn't have the itemized breakdown).

How many new initiatives at the city have to work around 4.1.5 before the city just admits that it is a shit policy that never should have been adopted and just deletes it entirely. The city knows that it is in its own way and doesn't want to touch the underlying problem.

#topoli #onpoli A small apt building proposal for a very urban residential nghd offers ideas for bringing more gentle density into neighbourhoods. In today's The Globe and Mail theglobeandmail.com/real-estate/to…

The proprietors of a local convenience store are retiring after 35 years, and neighbours are sharing memories and saying thank-you’s and goodbyes. Just a reminder that local shops build and bond community, and we should protect & create small, affordable spaces for local retail.

My Toronto Star column: Council’s “Buy Local” enthusiasm rings a bit hollow considering two months ago they were voting to keep corner stores illegal. It’s a mixed message: buy local, but not TOO local. The city needs more than slogans. thestar.com/opinion/contri…

This has to be one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen. For background, section 37 money is a municipal fee that cities can charge on apartments. The councillor is asking to take money meant for infrastructure like playgrounds and instead use it to keep rich people in

Very happy to be speaking with the public tonight on our new project on Danforth: > Prefab mass timber > 100% purpose-built rental > 10% affordable housing > Heritage rebuild > Lovely interior courtyard > No car parking, lots of bike parking
