Follow last week’s catastrophic breach of data of survivors of church abuse, House of Survivors has issued a constructive challenge to the The Church of England and Kennedys, the law firm responsible. I hope they will respond positively.

So the victim who blew the whistle on her abuser loses her job. Never let the CofE tell you that it puts victims first. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

If the BoL is chosen as next occupant of Augustine's Chair... I predict deepening crisis for CofE. London Diocese is a disaster site. BishopSarah lacks the ability to join dots, and doesn't see what she doesn't want to see...or is told not to see.

The morons at the Church of England still encouraging people to register with the Redress Scheme, and asserting that details will not be shared. Why would anyone do so, when details HAVE just been shared ??? Cathy Newman Madeleine Davies Archbishop of York Bishop of Newcastle 🖤🤍🖤🤍🙏 Aleem Maqbool

Stand by for journos who neither know nor care about the Church of England to hail this as a great #girlboss moment, ignoring anything relevant to the appointment- like whether the new Archbishop is qualified, can deliver a sermon, the state of the Diocese of London right now etc

To my knowledge, this is the only long-read which looks into the career of Sarah Mullally, the new Archbishop of Canterbury. It is pretty damning and well worth a read the-fence.com/in-the-shadow-…

Cathy Newman (@cathynewman) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I wasn’t granted an interview with the new Archbishop of Canterbury so I had to ask the Bishop of Winchester the questions I would have put to BishopSarah . And when I raised concerns about safeguarding, the interview got shut down… 👀

Graham (@graham1munro) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Just appalling evasion. These are legitimate questions, if only as they will like an albatross around the neck of Sarah Mullally. Archbishop of York was forced into a grovelling mea culpa about a past mistake before taking office. Will we have the same from Mullally ?

This is very poor by the new Archbishop of Canterbury or those advising her. Cathy Newman is a hugely respected journalist who has done great work on the abuse issue. The CofE won’t make it go away by refusing to talk about it. Only way forward is openness and transparency

Gilo (@seaofcomplicity) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I think BishopSarah will have to work very hard to show that she really 'gets it' and recognises her own failings in CofE safeguarding culture. Too much is likely to come tumbling out of London Diocese. I think waves are coming in. premierchristian.news/en/news/articl…

If you want to prove you take safeguarding seriously there’s one journalist you need to face: Cathy Newman. The new Archbishop didn’t. Perhaps bc Church thinks it’s “really not fair” that she has to answer for her record. Why has the Church not prepared? It is THE issue.

All churches just hate difficult, unpopular questions on safeguarding. Is it is because the entire notion of safeguarding is a sham? Man off camera deciding which questions from Cathy Newman should be answered. Who is pulling the strings on CoE safeguarding cover-up?

I thank Jane Charman (@janeeecharman.bsky.social) for her response here. But I think it is sadly symptomatic of a delusional reality within The Church of England at present. We have just had Justin Welby resign precisely because many of us in the church were pretty appalled at his lack of taking responsibility
