This is a really sensible and constructive statement from HouseofSurvivors and I hope all those concerned will read it with care, and heed it
If the BoL is chosen as next occupant of Augustine's Chair... I predict deepening crisis for CofE. London Diocese is a disaster site. BishopSarah lacks the ability to join dots, and doesn't see what she doesn't want to see...or is told not to see.
Gilo Graham London Diocese BishopSarah She has made fundamental and serious safeguarding errors, and cannot be trusted. She should not be under consideration.
The morons at the Church of England still encouraging people to register with the Redress Scheme, and asserting that details will not be shared. Why would anyone do so, when details HAVE just been shared ??? Cathy Newman Madeleine Davies Archbishop of York Bishop of Newcastle 🖤🤍🖤🤍🙏 Aleem Maqbool
I wasn’t granted an interview with the new Archbishop of Canterbury so I had to ask the Bishop of Winchester the questions I would have put to BishopSarah . And when I raised concerns about safeguarding, the interview got shut down… 👀
Just appalling evasion. These are legitimate questions, if only as they will like an albatross around the neck of Sarah Mullally. Archbishop of York was forced into a grovelling mea culpa about a past mistake before taking office. Will we have the same from Mullally ?
This is very poor by the new Archbishop of Canterbury or those advising her. Cathy Newman is a hugely respected journalist who has done great work on the abuse issue. The CofE won’t make it go away by refusing to talk about it. Only way forward is openness and transparency
I think BishopSarah will have to work very hard to show that she really 'gets it' and recognises her own failings in CofE safeguarding culture. Too much is likely to come tumbling out of London Diocese. I think waves are coming in. premierchristian.news/en/news/articl…
If you want to prove you take safeguarding seriously there’s one journalist you need to face: Cathy Newman. The new Archbishop didn’t. Perhaps bc Church thinks it’s “really not fair” that she has to answer for her record. Why has the Church not prepared? It is THE issue.
I thank Jane Charman (@janeeecharman.bsky.social) for her response here. But I think it is sadly symptomatic of a delusional reality within The Church of England at present. We have just had Justin Welby resign precisely because many of us in the church were pretty appalled at his lack of taking responsibility
In an extract from the new edition of Bleeding for Jesus Andrew Graystone recalls the eventual publication of the Makin Review – and its immediate aftermath – on 7 November 2024. dlted.substack.com/i/178183751/re…
