For Burns Night here's William McGonagall's poem praising Robert Burns Statue in Albert Square. On the day it was unveiled, Mcgonagall marched in full Highland costume with the Lochee weavers to the ceremony, but the police threw him off the podium and..."treated me like a dog!"

A prize fight takes place near the Dens Road in 1873. A big crowd turns out to watch and the Dundee Advertiser disapproves... Dundee Advertiser news report 1873

Saw a seagull in town swoop down and rip the corner off a Greggs pasty and fly off with it. What's astonishing is that most of the pasty was in a guy's mouth when the seagull swooped. It kind of reminded me of the shared pasta scene in Lady and the Tramp. A beautiful moment 😍

John Braid is having a quiet stroll along Lindsay Street when he is attacked. His nose seems to be the prime target! Dundee Advertiser Court Reports 1873

It's 1873 and a Broughty Ferry resident writes a very wordy letter to the editor of the Dundee Advertiser complaining about barking dogs keeping everyone awake at night.

It's 1873 & a visitor to The McManus is worried by the amount of police on show I must admit I never saw any police officers when I visited the excellent new CURTAIN CALL exhibition NONE of MY costumes made the final cut Maybe I'll write a letter of complaint about that 😁

I think, of all the court cases I've shared...THIS is the most disturbing! A Dundee surgeon extracts one of George Duncan's front teeth because the young lad was annoying him. The sheriff understands his motive for doing so...but thinks the joke went a LITTLE to far 😬

A letter to the Dundee Advertiser from 1873, complaining about "male loitering" in Dundee. The "fop's" especially come in for criticism!
