Is he viewed, at times, in a deified and hagiographic way by some Anglo-American historians? Yes, but he is certainly not the ‘chief villain’ of WWII as recently insinuated. He did the best for his country – a colonising imperialist power indeed – and is a deserved British hero.

IR Book of the Week! "Rethinking the End of Empire" by Lynn Tesser. Independence is due to nationalist movements, right? Not quite. The internal movements that led to decolonization were varied. Independence was seen as a one-sized-fits-all solution. amazon.com/Rethinking-End…

“KMP deputy commissioner (South) Tajul Islam told the media Wednesday night that the police assured the demonstrators of taking the boy to task through the court. But that did not quell the situation. The agitated mob beat up the boy.”

Can you imagine the President of India inviting the leader of the party that finished fourth in a general election to form a government? You can't. All said and done, this kind of knifing of people's mandate hardly happen in India. Macron did just that in France.

The party of Michel Barnier, the man appointed by Macron as Prime Minister, won just 5.1% vote in the French legislative election, whereas the winner of the election, the New Popular Front which won 26.9% votes, was ignored by Macron. It's democracy with French characteristics.
