Column of March 8:

'It’s a [Bruins] roster that looks positioned to dive into the playoffs next month as a club figured to win, say, 4-7 games, or land roughly 9-12 victories shy of a Cup.'

McAvoy yet to land a shot on net in 4 games vs. FLA.

Sweeney:
'No question, we’d like him to shoot a little bit more, be involved there. Up ice he is being focused on the forecheck side of things, making sure he can’t get back up above the play.”

Faltering began much earlier....backed off hitting game after one big sting by McAvoy....faIled time and time again to generate real offense....the balloon was deflating the last 30 minutes-plus.
The ridiculous GI call tore a hole thru it.

Update:
BOS recalls forward Patrick Brown, forward Jayson Megna and goaltender Brandon Bussi from WannaBs; assig goaltender Michael DiPietro to Providence.

Even though FLA is the vastly better team, BOS had a puncher's chance in series. because of Swayman's excellent play.

Get an early puck or two by Bobrovsky, then hope Swayman can go full Hasek. Pretty much how Game 4 played out...then BOS will faltered, and the bizarre GI call.

NHL audits all games for hits - generally totals go down upon review..

Game sheet last night had FLA with 48-44 advantage.

Final tally (audited): FLA, 52-49.

Agreed, Al...but again, the topic here was the blatant GI issue....the hit stuff, including Bennett on Marchand, is rather garden variety.
Dumping a player into the goalie, roofing the puck....and having it stand? Garage league.

I think you may be reading this wrong, my friend.
I remain non-convinced about Bennett's hit to Marchand's head.
I have no doubt the GI call (or lack of) was preposterous.
Hope you make it back to a rink one day. Always good fun.

Better team is winning, no question. Bruins not at same level, in terms of roster composition and compete level. Which has nothing to do with amateur-level officiating.

NHL finally woke up and paid attention to head shots when Matt Cooke felled Marc Savard.

Maybe the foolish decision around Bennett's goal (allowing it to stand) will bring fundamental change in goal reviews.

Especially in the new betting era--but in any era--shameful. Garage…
