Just like people are unique individuals, #elephants are, too! Here, Maia shows us one of her unique traits; her ears don't flap at the same time! It makes her very identifiable, even from a long distance.

Lady has been having trouble lifting her leg up into the jacuzzi for foot soaks, because of her limited movement in her elbows. So, the staff is building her a special, portable concrete foot soak that it recessed into the ground.

Maia and Bambi relax under the big sanctuary sky. One edge of the fence is visible amongst the tall grass, but the other sides of it extend far into the forest, out of sight. It takes a lot of fence to create these vast spaces -- and your donations make this possible.

There are very subtle things that you begin to notice once you’ve been working with elephants for many years. In this video, around the 43 second mark, Maia’s ears do a little up-and-down wiggle -- her way of telling everyone that she’s so excited that she can barely contain it.

Amongst the outrage over Viola, the elephant who recently escaped the circus, there is some good news! The Hadi Shrine Circus announced it will no longer have elephants, after several of their top sponsors pulled their funding after learning of the abuse.
