On this 3rd anniversary of the fall of Kabul, an incredible story incredibly told by Shirin Jaafari - “Afghanistan has always been more than a story.” theworld.org/segments/2024/…
Such a good book. Not that I’m in any way surprised. The title comes from one of my favorite sentences Sarah Smarsh has published (and may I note that that’s saying a lot?) - a much-needed antidote to all the superficial hot takes.
Is there anything better than getting a copy of a friend’s new book? I don’t think so. I’m one chapter in, and completely in awe of the clarity, heart, and journalistic rigor Amanda Becker brings to this tough topic.
Awesome story by Sushmita Pathak about how sometimes the best innovation is something simple and forgotten, not something shiny and new. How old school wells are alleviating water scarcity in India. theworld.org/stories/2024/1…
Fascinating read by the great Amanda Becker - ignore women over 50 at your peril 😆19thnews.org/2024/10/women-…
Great in-depth reporting from Ukraine by Lydia Tomkiw and Emily H. Johnson covering mental health, wartime children's literature, and Ukrainians' perspective on the upcoming US election. Listen to their stories! 📻🎧The World (linked in thread below) theworld.org/stories/2024/1…
